The School Rules

We adopted a policy a few years ago which has transformed the behaviour in our school. It is based on the idea of an American teacher, Lee Canter, and is called 'Assertive Discipline'.

These are the rules which now apply in our Primary School.
Rules
  1. Follow Instructions.
    STOP, LOOK, LISTEN.
  2. Use Quiet Voices.
  3. Walk Everywhere.
  4. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
  5. No Stealing.


If these rules are not followed, there are...
Consequences
  1. A verbal Warning.
  2. Time out.
  3. One minute in at the end of the session.
  4. Five minutes in at the end of the session.
  5. Sent out of class to another room. Letter sent home.
  6. Sent to the Head Teacher.

There is also a system of rewards for children who 'choose' to follow the rules.
